Always smarties. Despite dire high school slut-shaming predictions, not mommies until decades later.
That's a class photo of our small town elementary school's after school gifted class, circa 1987-1988. Danica, in her suspendered (?), permed glory is featured on the top row, 5th from left. I, in an unkempt mullet grow-out and mom-sewn Mickey Mouse sweatshirt, anchor the bottom row on the far right. Danica was in the 5th grade, and I was in the 4th grade when this was taken.
(And you see that boy? Yes. That boy? I began dating him when we were in college, married him, and bore his children.)
If you need a more modern visual to accompany what will be our undoubtedly wise words, you can use this photo from our visit to NYC last spring.
She's still more fashionable, but my pregnant boobs are bigger here, so I win.
