Mother's Day was yesterday and either you had a wonderful, relaxing day with breakfast in bed and all the things you love made possible by planning and forethought from your lovely Smartner... or it was a day exactly like any other day wherein you did All The Things after the first 10 seconds of the morning were over and your kids were no longer excited to celebrate you.
Mother's Day can be complicated, so let's get some Good Stuff going in honor of all the Smarty Mommies out there.
First up, some reading. If you didn't get a chance yesterday to lay in bed and read with a warm cup of coffee in hand (possibly my favorite thing to do on this planet), try to find time today. It's worth it.
A special "Moms Respond" feature of Glass Journal. A lovely collection of poetry and interviews.
Next, some lookie-loo stuff. Just for fun. Because some of that reading was heavy and sometimes Mother's Day is heavy and... I dunno. Maybe your Smartner needs some ideas for next Mother's Day. (or your birthday. or the holidays.)
Universal Standard. If you are a size 10 or above, check this place out. This company is amazing. Body positive. Great staple pieces with an edge. A WOMAN WITH NOT PERFECTLY SMOOTH THIGHS LIKE ME ON THEIR LANDING PAGE. I fell instantaneously and tearfully in love upon seeing this picture:

We Are Never Meeting In Real Life by Samantha Irby. This is her 2nd book, and it's time for you to jump on the bandwagon before her first book, Meaty, is made into a TV series for FX.
And you know what? You better get Meaty, too. Because trust me. You need to laugh, then cry, then laugh again.
Also, this is happening on June 2nd, and you better believe Christina and I will be there. You should, too. Because IT IS ABOUT DAMN TIME. (And if they mess up Wonder Woman, I will be a level of pissed off I can't quite articulate.)
And last, but certainly not least... I made all you Smarty Mommies out there a Mother's Day playlist. It covers a broad selection of musical styles, from 2Pac to Danzig to Willie Nelson to Beyoncé to Warrant. These are all songs with the word "mother" or "mama" in them, so even though you might be thinking, "What the hell does Ozzy Osborn have to do with Mother's Day?" it'll all make sense. I promise. Give it a listen.
We see you. We know you work hard. You are not alone. #iseeyoumom
